Doctor kidnapped in Khyber Agency

LANDI KOTAL, July 20: Unidentified men on Sunday kidnapped a doctor at gunpoint near Bara in the Khyber Agency.

Dr Masoodul Haq, an eye specialist, who belongs to Jangal-khel, Kohat, was going with his colleague Dr Ayub and driver Ajmal Shinwari in a car (Peshawar B-8441) from Hayatabad to their clinic in Bara. They were intercepted near Nao Gazee Baba on the Bara-Jamrud road.

The gunmen dragged Dr haq out of the car and took away.

The doctors practise at a clinic in Bara every Sunday.

Dr Haq, who was recently transferred from the agency headquarters hospital here is in charge of Mardan teaching hospital at Sheikh Maltoon township while Dr Ayub serves at Bara Dogra hospital.

It is suspected to be a kidnapping for ransom.

On June 24, a customs official Amanullah and his friend Zakria were kidnapped and the political administration is yet to find any clue  to their whereabouts. More than 500 shops belonging to Sipah residents were closed and some 50 shopkeepers were arrested after the incident.  

The car in which the customs official was travelling was recovered from Sipah area.

JI MEETING: A delegation of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Khyber Agency, left for Sangota, Mingora, to attend the party’s three-day congregation.
