KARACHI, July 12: Police on Saturday appeared to be helpless in getting any clue to those, who had planted a bomb at Kawish Crown Plaza on Sharea Faisal, which exploded on Friday morning and killed two persons.
“As there is no eyewitness to the incident, the police have been investigating into the activities of those killed in the blast. We want to know about their activities in the city. For this purpose, we have questioned a number of people related to those killed in the explosion,” said the DIG Investigation-I, Fayyaz Leghari.
He said the two deceased were blown into pieces due to the impact of the bomb, which indicated that they were very close to the bomb. In the past, there were some instances in which the carriers mishandled the bomb and were blown up. Giving a few examples of such incidents in the past, he said that Asif Ramzi and his associates were killed when they mishandled the bomb in Korangi some seven months back. Similarly, in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Riaz was wounded when the bomb, which he was carrying, went off due to mishandling near Aladdin Park.
He said that those killed in the Friday blast were identified as Mohammad Hanif, a guard of a private security firm, and Zaheer Ahmed, an employee of the building’s canteen.
A spokesman for Sindh police said that the help of different law enforcement and intelligence agencies had been sought to nab the criminals.
He said different persons had been associated with the investigation to find clues. Watchman of the building, who was on duty during night was also being questioned.
Meanwhile, IGP Sindh Syed Kamal Shah has directed police to put a check on activities of Afghan-speaking people in the Afghan dominated areas.
