KARACHI, July 7: Benazir Bhutto, the former prime minister and chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party, will herself lead the campaign for the (predicted) general election next year in Pakistan.
This was stated by Asif Ali Zardari, the interned husband of the former premier, at the Central Prison, where he is appearing in the Mir Murtaza Bhutto murder case.
He said the Mir Murtaza Bhutto murder case had started proceeding suddenly at a time when the people were ready to take to the streets. “We have to send the general home,” he said and added that the PPP was struggling for the people’s rights.
He said his daughter, Asifa, would soon address a public rally here.
In reply to a question, Mr Zardari said the army would not use force against the agitating public. “We are Pakistanis, not the agents of Indian RAW,” he said.
