ISLAMABAD, July 6: Activists of Islami Tehreek Pakistan (ITP) on Sunday held protest demonstrations throughout the country against the killing of innocent people in a terrorist attack on a mosque in Quetta.
Protest rallies, demonstrations and condolence programmes were held in all major cities of the country besides the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The local ITP leaders spoke at protest rallies in major cities of the country including the four provincial capitals as well as Hyderabad, Multan, Mandi Bahawuddin, Faisalabad, Dera Ismail Khan, Gilgit and Skardu.
The speakers asked the government, political leadership and intellectuals of the country to take into consideration why the Shiite community was targeted whenever signs of change in situation of the country appeared.
Terming the Quetta incident a result of “nexus of invisible forces and sectarian groups”, the leaders called for impartial probe into the killings to expose the motivations behind it.
They said the government’s announcement to pay money to the relatives of the victims was insufficient as “money could never compensate for life”.
Meanwhile, ITP’s central leader Allama Sajid Naqvi left for Quetta on Sunday where he would hold talks with the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leadership and government officials besides meeting the bereaved families of victims of the mosque attack incident.
Talking to delegations of people who came to offer their condolence at the ITP Secretariat in Rawalpindi, Allama Naqvi asked the people to remain united against terrorists to frustrate their anti-state designs.
