PPP-S rejects allegations

PESHAWAR, July 5: The Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) has demanded that Water and Power Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao should hold an inquiry into the allegation of power theft levelled against the people of the NWFP by the Wapda chairman.

In a statement on Saturday, PPP-S information secretary Syed Kamal Shah said the chief executive of the Pesco had also levelled the same charge. He demanded that the government should constitute a committee which would look into these allegations.

He said the consumers were not responsible for the line losses and criticized the Pesco authorities for imposing heavy fine on them to meet the loss. The PPP-S leader asked the Pesco chief not to dub Pukhtuns thieves.—Bureau
