Lack of coordination causes problems

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, July 5: Lack of coordination between the civil administration and army officials during curfew hours in Quetta caused embarrassment and confusion.

Curfew passes issued by the district administrative officer to journalists and officials of essential services were not recognized by the army officers on duty on Saturday morning.

This correspondent was stopped in the front of the Balochistan assembly building and asked to return home.

The officer on duty was shown the curfew pass besides accreditation card of the public relations department but he said he did not acknowledge the authority that had issued the curfew pass.

The district Nazim, Mohammad Rahim Kakar, said the matter had been discussed with the authorities concerned.

He claimed the corps headquarters had assured that instructions had been issued to duty officials to honour the passes issued to officials and journalists.

The authorities on Saturday granted relaxation in curfew hours from 1pm to 6pm. The city remained peaceful.
