KARACHI, July 2: Meezan Bank on Wednesday launched its Islamic banking financial advisory programme and signed an agreement with Bank of Khyber to provide consultancy and training for enabling it to launch its own Islamic banking.

The agreement waas signed by BoK managing director Qazi Munir Ul Haq and Meezan Bank president Irfan Siddiqui. NWFP senior minister Maulana Siraj ul Haq and Islamic scholar and consultant of Meezan Bank Maulana Taqi Usmani were also present.

Under the agreement, Meezan Bank will give training for a year to the BoK staff to launch Islamic banking. It had already given the basic two-day training to BoK officers. The training will be on three basic banking fields — investment, asset management and liabilities.—APP
