BERLIN, June 30: Pakistan and India must resolve their differences over the troubled region of Kashmir before any other problems between them can be addressed, Pakistani President Musharraf warned on Monday.

“Pakistan remains flexible on how to approach the solution to the Kashmir problem. But what it cannot be flexible on is that Kashmir cannot be sidelined... and other issues addressed,” Musharraf told reporters here.

Speaking after talks with Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Musharraf said there was “a realisation in every country that this is the issue”, and he asked the German leader to help advance the dialogue over Kashmir in any way he could.

Also the agenda of his discussions with Schroeder were the war against terrorism and the fate of Afghanistan.

Musharraf told Schroeder and Rau that a new strategy needed to be introduced in Afghanistan so that foreign troops, who are increasingly becoming the victims of attacks there, could be withdrawn.—AFP
