KARACHI: WB keen on coal project

KARACHI, June 29: The World Bank is attaching high hopes with the Thar coal project, as it will generate employment and bring prosperity in the area.

This was stated by a two-member team of the World Bank at a meeting with the provincial minister for mineral development, Usman Malkani, on Sunday. They said that they would soon visit the site of the project.

The minister said that a large number of countries had shown willingness to invest in Thar coal project. He said that the project would change the fate of area people.

The secretary for mineral development, managing director of Sindh Coal Authority and director general of mineral development department were also present at the meeting.—APP
