HYDERABAD, June 26: The students of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) held a protest demonstration against the project director, Javed Memon, in front of the office of the vice chancellor, LUMHS, for the third consecutive day on Thursday.
They raised slogans against Mr Memon.
Student leader Dr Sheeraz Shakirani, Dr Aziz Palejo, Raman Chandio, Jameel Ujjan and others demanded removal of the project director as he was causing losses to the university.
They said that Mr Memon had got Jameel Ujjan arrested by the Jamshoro police who was later set free.
They said the action committee members visited the under-construction buildings of the LUMHS and found that substandard material was being used.
They said that the project director was issuing threats to the students and demanded his removal.
Meanwhile, action committee leaders called on the vice chancellor, LUMHS, and discussed matters relating to hostel fees and other issues.
They demanded that the hostel fees should be reduced and facilities should be provided.
According to students’ leaders, the vice chancellor said that he was not competent to reduce hostel fees and the Sindh governor should be approached in this regard.
RECRUITMENT: The armoury unit of the Pakistan Army will arrive at the Army Recruitment Centre, Hyderabad, on July 1 for recruiting eligible candidates.
The deputy district officer, Establishment, DCO Office, Hyderabad, has notified that Hyderabad District domiciled candidates having matriculation certificates and who were between 17 and 23 years old and 5 feet 6 inches in height are eligible for recruitment.
Interested candidates have been advised to bring testimonial certificates with them.
SPSC: The controller of examinations, Sindh Public Service Commission, Hyderabad, on Thursday has announced the result of the written test for recruitment in the post of Assistant BPS-11 in the Population and Welfare department, Government of Sindh.
According to the result, 20 candidates have qualified.
