HYDERABAD, June 23: The Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited will disconnect telephone lines of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company if it did not pay PTCL dues.

This was stated by Messrs Fahad and Company, Hyderabad, authorized recovery contractor of the PTCL, in a communication addressed to the federal minister for water and power and the chairman, Nepra.

In a statement released to the press here on Monday, the manager of the company’s recovery task force said Rs700,000 was outstanding against Hesco.

He requested the minister and the Nepra chairman to issue orders to Hesco to clear PTCL dues.

He said the company had also issued notices to the chairman, Wapda, and Hesco chief executive on many occasions during the last year but no reply had been received from them.

POWER SUPPLY: The city residents have complained the performance of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company as it has failed to provide relief.

They said that it was the poor working of the electricity company that leads to frequent power breakdowns in the city.

They told this correspondent on Sunday that the power supply to two units of Latifabad remained suspended due to inefficiency of the Hesco staff.

They informed that a fault in the new airport feeder of the Rizvi subdivision, which occurred at 10.30 am, was not corrected till evening. Two units, 7 and 8, of Latifabad are provided electricity from this feeder. Due to non-availability of power, business activities were badly affected and the shopkeepers were forced to use generators.

The company was also receiving a number of complaints from customers about the power failure in Gari Khato and Saddar areas.

FIRES: The record of the United Bank Limited (UBL), Unit 7 branch was reduced to ashes as it caught a fire on Sunday.

The UBL branch caught fire due to a short circuit. The fire was put out by the fire brigade.
