KARACHI: ARD deplores govt attitude

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 16: The Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD), Sindh, has deplored the partisan attitude of the government machinery in the by-elections for NA-255 and claimed that Mohajir Qaumi Movement’s candidate was not being allowed to campaign.

Addressing a news conference at the Karachi Press Club on Monday, Mr Zain Ansari, general secretary of ARD, Sindh, deplored the law and order situation in the province. He alleged that people had been terrorised in Landhi with the official backing.

He demanded that official agencies should not involve themselves in such politics. He criticized that the attitude of government had made the upcoming polls questionable.

Haqiqi’s candidate Abid Ali Jaferi also narrated his plight and complained that despite sending several letters to the Election Commission, it did not respond positively.

Meanwhile, general secretary of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement, Amir Khan, deplored partisan attitude of the Sindh government and alleged that its policies were detrimental to peace and tranquillity in the city.
