MULTAN, June 14: The boards of intermediate and secondary education in the Punjab announced the matric results on Saturday.
In Multan, private schools outshone the public sector institutions. Another feature of the results is that most of the top positions are grabbed by the candidates from Burewala.
As many as 84,639 candidates appeared in the examination. Of them, around 42,357 have been declared successful showing a percentage of 50.
The overall top position was shared by Safia Shaheen (4792) of the Tabinda High School, Burewala, and Hafiz Muhammad Mujahid (14272) of the Muslim Public High School (Mumtazabad), Multan, with 784 marks. Saqib Maqbool (20296) of the Government MC Model High School, Burewala, clinched second position with 782 marks and Ghulam Rasool (19423) of the Rashid Minhas Public High School, Chichawatni, secured third position with 779 marks.
BAHAWALPUR: As many as 22,638 came out successful out of the 43,733 candidates in Bahawalpur at a percentage of 51.76.
The overall first and third positions were clinched by girls while only the second position went to a boy. The positions in various groups of boys and girls mainly went to Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar.
The overall first position was captured by Saniya Iftikhar (47556) of the Government Girls Model High School, Rahim Yar Khan, who secured 774 marks. Waqas Hanif (57967) of Madrassatul Binat Higher Secondary School, Sadiqabad, and Ayesha Khalid (45363) of the Sir Syed Girls Public School, Chishtian, got the overall second and third positions by obtaining 772 and 767 marks, respectively.
DERA GHAZI KHAN: Out of 34,050 students appearing in the matric examination here, around 21,042 got through giving a percentage of 61.7. The pass percentage was 70.1 among science students and 48 among 12,885 candidates in the general group.
Muhammad Nadeem Ahmad (5737) of the Government High School, Taunsa Sharif, secured the overall first position in the board with 784 marks while Imtiazul Hassan (11393) of Misali Zakria Higher Secondary School, Muzaffargarh, stood second by securing 778 marks. The third position was clinched by Mohsin Ata (8479) of the Rashid Minhas Higher Secondary School Alipur, who secured 777 marks.
GUJRANWALA: As many as 65,092 candidates, out of 129,140, have been declared successful in the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education results. The pass percentage is 50.40.
According to the controller examination, Hassan Ishaq Mali (93941) of the Municipal Model High School for Boys, Muslimabad, (Gujrat) clinched the first position by obtaining 791 marks. Two girls, Osama (81398) and Shaista Hameed (81411), of the Government Muslim Model Girls High School, Gujranwala, got second and third positions by obtaining 786 and 779 marks, respectively.
FAISALABAD: Over 50 per cent students of the local Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education have failed in the matriculation examinations.
Out of total 85,980 candidates, as many as 42,752 were declared successful.
The Faisalabad BISE announced the results at a ceremony held at the Senate Hall of University of Agriculture here on Saturday.
Naveed Mushtaq of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Rajana, (Toba Tek Singh), clinched the overall first position by getting 789 marks while Benish Zaib of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Chak 74-JB (Faisalabad), bagged the second position with 788 marks. Waqas Waseem of Maasoomeen Foundation Boys High School, Chiniot got the third slot by getting 786 marks.
SARGODHA: The pass percentage of students in Sargodha was 50.9 according to a notification.
As many as 50,973 students appeared in the examination. Of them, 25,923 got through. Girl students maintained their superiority over boys.
The overall first position was clinched by Muhammad Awais Bilal (8991) of the Government Central Model School, Mianwali, by securing 782 marks. Jamil Husain (16285) of the PAF Public School, Sargodha, scored 778 and clinched second position while the third position was shared by three students, Faisal Majeed (16268), Abdullah Saadan Ahmad Qureshi (16284) of the PAF Public School, Sargodha, and Ahmad Ali (17696) of the Government High School, Bhalwal, by securing 776 marks. All these boys are from science group.
The BISEs have awarded computer sets to the toppers in most of the districts.
