KARACHI: CID men restrained

Published June 10, 2003

KARACHI, June 9: The Sindh High Court on Monday asked the Central Investigation Department officials to refrain from harassing members of Asif Ramzi’s family.

The directive came from Justice M. Ashraf Laghari on a petition moved by the mother of Asif Ramzi.

Ms Hajira alleged that certain CID officials took up residence at Ramzi’s flat at Gulzar-i-Hijri together with his family, which consisted of his wife and four children, when they were unable to find any clue to his whereabouts. The family shifted to another residence, yet the investigation officials continued summoning its members and harassing them.

The court asked the state counsel to convey the directives to the officials concerned and also inform the advocate-general to enable him to submit comments by June 16, when the petition would again come up for hearing.
