Arms seized
GILGIT, June 7: The Northern Areas police, during the previous quarter, arrested 28 proclaimed offenders and recovered 52 weapons from the possession of various persons, Mubarak Jan, a spokesman for the police said.
He said that the recovered weapons included a Kalashnikov, an automatic assault rifle, three rifles, 38 pistols, a Sten gun and a 7mm rifle, adding that these weapons had been recovered from five districts of the Northern Areas.
Inspector General of Police, Northern Areas, Ahsan Mukhtar Ashraf announced rewards for 10 policemen who had participated in the operation, the spokesman said.
