SUKKUR, June 7: The Sindh High Court Bar Association and the District Bar Association, Sukkur, have demanded arrest of the TPO, SITE area, Shaukat Ali Shahani, for obstructing a raid on a police station and issuing threats to two judicial officers.

The demand was made through a resolution unanimously adopted at a joint emergency general body meeting of the two associations held here on Saturday.

The resolution said that the TPO and his subordinates created hindrance to the conduct of a raid on the Abad police station by the joint civil judge and third judicial magistrate, Sukkur, under the directive of the district and session judge, Sukkur, to recover detainees on the complaint of a petitioner.

The resolution further said that the TPO was enraged over the raid to such an extent that he asked his staff by telephone to detain the judge till he reached the police station.

The civil judge, on learning about the directive of the TPO, left the police station.

Then the TPO called the district and session judge, Sukkur, hurled abuses at him and also threatened that he would be killed if he sent his magistrates to raid at any police station of his area.

The TPO repeatedly called the judge with the same message and abuses.

The members of both the Bar associations demanded immediate arrest of the TPO and other police officials involved in the incident.

They warned that if the demand was not accepted in three days, the lawyers would launch a protest movement.

The Bar associations appealed to the chief justices of the supreme and Sindh high courts to take up the issue at the highest level to save the honour of the judiciary.

BANDITS HELD: The Pano Aqil police arrested two dacoits, Akhtar Jagirani and Aijaz Jagirani, and recovered a Kalashnikov, a TT pistol and a motorcycle from their possession on Thursday.

The dacoits had snatched a motorcycle from a man, Abdul Hakeem Soomro, the same day. Police patrolling the area started chasing them.

Soon an encounter took place between both as a result of which both the dacoits were arrested.

Police sources said both were wanted in more than 15 robbery cases.
