KARACHI, June 6: Son of a cantonment officer was kidnapped for ransom on Thursday night, police and the Citizen-Police Liaison Committee sources said on Friday.
Bilal, 24, son of Muzaffar Shaukat Najmi, posted at Sargodha cantonment as cantonment executive officer, was allegedly kidnapped along with his car, ABD-201, in the Defence Housing Authority, the sources said. Bilal’s mother reported the matter to area police.
Clifton town police chief Munir Shaikh told Dawn that Bilal, resident of central avenue in Defence area, left his home to return a compact disk to a shop at the Boating Basin but did not return. His mother allegedly received a call from Bilal’s mobile phone, by an anonymous caller, telling that her son was kidnapped.
Mr Shaikh said Bilal’s car was also missing, and the concerned family did not receive any call for ransom, so far, he added.
