KARACHI, June 6: Five ships carrying containers, general cargo, chemicals and to load ethanol are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Saturday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where four ships, Bunga Masempat, Al-Mirqab, to off-load and load containers, Mary Laki, to off-load steel coils and Botany Trust, to unload tallow.

Three ships, Hyundai Highway, Vladimir Vysotskiy and Barbah departed on Friday, while Botany Trust, Oriental Stride, Al-Mirqab, Bunga Masempat, Wan Hai-305 and Oriental Bright are due to sail out on Saturday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher thanks to larger handling of liquid tonnage, rising to 93,303 tons comprising 32,475 tons of export cargo and 60,828 tons of import tonnage including 32,353 tons of oils.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Beluga Inspiration, with general cargo, Bow Wallaby, with chemicals, Al-Fatem to load 4,000 tons of ethanol, Ocean Genius, and Iwato, with containers.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, June 6: Three ships scheduled to load and offload containers and edible oil were allotted berths at QICT and Multi Purpose Terminal during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release here on Friday.

Another ship carrying mang ore also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim the same period.

A total of five vessels — Francisca Schulte, Saudi Abha, Bunga Siantan, Princess Natalie and Minnoble — remained occupied at PQA berths to load and offload containers and edible oil, general cargo and coal, respectively.

Cargo handling operations were carried out smoothly at the port where a cargo volume of 37,185 tons, comprising 29,416 tons imports and 7,769 tons exports, inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,442 containers was handled during the report period.

Two ships, Minnobe and Saudi Abha, sailed to sea. Two vessels, MSC Srdinia and Jin Ping, are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim and expected to take berths at QICT and Iron Ore & Coal berth, respectively, on Friday.
