KARACHI: Businessman falls to death

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 5: A businessman died in mysterious circumstances after falling from the FTC building on Sharea Faisal Thursday.

“Apparently, it seems a suicide, but the police are also investigating all other aspects,” town police officer Clifton told Dawn.

Police said Mohammad Hanif, 55, an exporter, had came to the FTC to visit the office of the Export Promotion Bureau located at the fifth floor.

According to an eyewitness, the victim had fallen from the sixth floor of the building. However, there were some other views that the victim might have fallen from the fourth floor, police said. The body was removed from the spot before the arrival of the police.

Police said that the victim was a resident of Gulshan-i-Iqbal (Block-6) and had five children.

Victim’s brother, a deputy director at the EPB, did not accuse anyone in the case, police added.

ACCIDENT: A woman died in a road accident in Gulshan-i-Iqbal late Wednesday night.

Police said Fahmeeda, wife of Mohammad Siddiqi, was knocked down by a speeding passenger coach (PE-5502) near Nipa Chowrangi.

The woman was shifted to a nearby private hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
