KARACHI: Warrant for arrest of IO issued

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, June 5: The additional district and sessions judge, West, issued on Thursday a non-bailable warrant for the arrest of a police officer for his failure to appear before the court despite repeated notices.

Inspector Niaz Hussain Shah, a former station house officer of the Mominabad police, was the investigation officer in a case against Abu Sufiyan and he was required by the court for his evidence.

The accused was booked for an attempt to murder in 1999 and his case came to a halt due to the continuous absence of the investigation officer in the court.

The court ordered the police authorities to arrest the police official and produce him before the court on June 16.

ACQUITTED: The judicial magistrate, East, Ms Zabiha Khattak, acquitted a worker of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi) in a case pertaining to the possession of an unlicensed pistol.

Naseer Ahmed alias Cheeta was booked in the case in March 2000 by the Landhi police.

The magistrate exonerated him from the charge as the prosecution could not establish its case against him.

The additional district and sessions judge, South, acquitted a man, Mohammed Hussain, prosecuted for injuring a man during a quarrel.
