LONDON, June 2: Oil prices rose to a two-month high here on Monday amid worries about gasoline supplies and nervousness ahead of a meeting of the Opec producer cartel next week, traders said.
The price of benchmark Brent North Sea crude oil for July delivery rallied 86 cents to $27.18 per barrel in late deals. In New York the reference light sweet crude July contract gained 84 cents to $30.40 in early trading.
“It is a primarily US-led market,” said GNI trader Robert Laughlin.
He said the market was also nervous ahead of the meeting of Opec in Qatar on Wednesday of next week to discuss cutting output.—AFP
