RAWALPINDI, June 1: Four persons were killed and another was critically injured in separate incidents in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, police said on Sunday.

In the first incident, two persons were killed after being run over by a dumper at Tarnol, GT Road, on Saturday.

According to the police, Saeed Ahmed and Sher Khan of Attock were travelling on a truck (BU-2310), when they fell on the road, and were run over by a dumper coming from behind. Saeed was killed on the spot, while Sher Khan died on his way to hospital.

In the second incident, Mohammad Banaris, a lineman of MES department, was electrocuted while working on a pole in the Combined Military Hospital on Sunday, the police said.

Mohammad Ramzan, the sub-division officer, told RA Bazaar police that Mohammad Banaris was working on an electric pole after the main line had been switched off, when he suffered a shock. However, his two other colleagues, who were also working on the same pole, survived.

Preliminary inquiry by the police suggested that a sudden release of current in the line resulted in the death of the lineman. The dead body was lowered down from the pole and handed over to the victim’s family, the police said.

In another incident, one person was killed and another critically injured after their truck plunged into a ravine near Salgran (Murree Road) on Sunday.

The dead and injured were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, where the later was said to be in critical condition, the police said.

Meanwhile, two robberies were committed in Waris Khan and Sadiqabad areas, in which gold ornaments and cash were looted, the victims and police said.

In the first incident, four robbers raided a house in Bhabra Bazaar in the broad daylight and snatched gold ornaments from a woman, identified as Samina, at gunpoint.

In the second incident, four persons stormed a house in Sadiqabad on Sunday afternoon and looted gold jewellery and cash.

The police said the robbers entered the house of Chaudhry Ijaz and held 10 member of his family at gunpoint. They snatched Rs0.2 million and gold jewellery from the inmates and escaped after locking them in a room.
