Police yet to locate accused armyman
PESHAWAR, June 1: The police have so far been unable to locate the whereabouts of an army officer who was allegedly involved in the killing of three persons.
According to reports, Lieutenant Jamshed Naseer came to the house of Major Fida Hussain (retired) near Abdara intersection in University Town on Wednesday evening and after killing his three servants, fled.
Talking to Dawn on Sunday, police officials said they failed to find any clue to Lieutenant Jamshed owing to non-cooperation of Major Fida and Naseer Siddiqui, father of the accused.
They said Major Fida denied having any dispute with Lieutenant Jamshed, while the father of the accused also did not provide any information leading to the incident.
Major Fida told the police that Lieutenant Jamshed of the artillery unit came to his house with a cake. He said when he came out his daughter Uzma stopped him from going outside saying the guest had resorted to firing.
The major claimed in his FIR that when he went outside with his pistol Jamshed also shot a fire at him but he escaped unhurt.
Later, Jamshed fled leaving a small black bag. After opening the bag, a pistol with 16 bullets was recovered from it, he added.
The major maintained that when he went to other rooms he saw his three servants — Sajjad, Mukammil Shah and Tufail — dead with bullet wounds.
Two minor daughters of Sajjad — Shomia and Romia — maidservant Nazo, wife of Abdullah, and a passerby Abbas Khan were injured in the firing. The injured were taken to the Khyber Teaching Hospital.
After registration of the FIR, the University Town police raided the house of Lieutenant Jamshed in Gulbahar area and interrogated his father and brother.
Naseer Siddiqui informed the police that Jamshed went to the house of Major Fida with a cake, but denied that the black bag belonged to Jamshed.—Bureau
