SANGHAR: 10 injured in clash


SANGHAR, June 1: At least 10 people were injured in a clash between Chang, Machhi and Leghari peasants over irrigation water at the Sher Khan Leghari village, near Shahdadpur, on Saturday.

Hatchets, sticks and iron rods were freely used in the clash.

The names of the injured were ascertained as Gulab, Mohammad Khan, Wahid Bux, Hanif, Jan Mohammad, Bakhsh Ali, Shaman Chandio, Zulekha, Noori and Rashida.

Some of the injured were taken to the Taluka Hospital, Shahdadpur.

Later, Machhi tribesmen held a protest demonstration and blocked a section of the Sanghar-Shahdadpur road.

Police have registered counter cases against 24 people belonging to the tribes, while 16 have been arrested.—Correspondent
