KARACHI, May 31: Pakistan’s Mansoor Zaman has slipped to 17th in the latest world squash rankings announced by the Professional Squash Association (PSA) on Friday.

According to the June rankings list announced by the PSA - the governing body of the game at the international professional level - Mansoor has dropped six places down from number 11 to 17.

The fall is in stark contrast to Mansoor’s showing in recent months in which he climbed to a career-high No. 11 in the international rankings to become the highest-ranked Pakistani in the squash world in five years since former world No. 1 Jansher Khan.

The reason why Mansoor has slipped in the rankings is his poor showing in this month’s PSA Qatar Squash Masters tournament in Doha. In the elite US$120,000 event, Mansoor was beaten by unseeded Englishman Adrian Grant in the opening round.

Meanwhile, England’s Peter Nicol maintains his grip on the No1 position in the new rankings while Australia’s John White rose to No. 3 in the world.—PPI
