Penal surcharge waived

ISLAMABAD, May 29: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has waived penal surcharge on clearance of warehoused overstayed goods to facilitate trade and industry.

According to a CBR notification issued here on Thursday, the waiver of penal surcharge will be available for those goods cleared from warehouse within the period from May 28 to June 15, 2003.

The notification reads as: “The federal government is pleased to extend up to June 15, 2003 the period for which warehoused goods may remain in the warehouse and remit penal surcharge in the case of goods which are removed from the warehouse within the period from May 28 to June 15”.
