Section 144 imposed in Capital

ISLAMABAD, May 20: The district magistrate, Islamabad, has issued seven orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) banning speeches and gathering by people in the capital territory for two months.

According to the orders, use of cassette players for making objectionable/sectarian related speeches has been prohibited besides misuse of loudspeakers, creating nuisance and injuring the feeling of other sects.

The magistrate also put a ban on all kinds of gathering of five or more persons, processions/ rallies and demonstrations at a public place.

Indulging in digging out, stone throwing, blasting, displaying and exhibiting fire arms, and distribution of objectionable hand-bills, pamphlets, wall chalking and pasting posters on walls and any constructions in rural areas have also been prohibited for two months within the revenue/territorial limits of district Islamabad with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, the assistant commissioner (rural), Islamabad, Amir Ali, has prohibited under Section 144 CrPC, the holding of shows, circus, musical programme and use of fire crackers at Noorpur Shahan during the Urs of Hazrat Bari Imam.

The Islamabad deputy commissioner, Traiq Khan, has directed the district administration and Capital police to strictly implement these orders.
