KARACHI, May 9: Federal Industries Minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi said Friday that he will urge the Prime Minister to constitute an inter-ministerial committee to solve all the anomalies facing industries.
He was talking to newsman after attending a seminar of Pak- Belgium Business Forum (PBBF) at a local hotel.
“I will request the Prime Minister to form inter-ministerial committee for removing the difference in the power tariff for industries in KESC and Wapda,” he said.
The minister said that this committee will include all the concerned ministers and officials and take decisions for the removal of all the anomalies facing industries in Pakistan.
“We need to sit to resolve these issues and I will request the Prime Minister as soon as possible”, Jatoi said.
Earlier, speaking at the seminar he said that government will do away with all such laws and regulations which are anti-investment and anti-industrialization.
The minister said that he has convened a meeting of Advisory Committee in Islamabad on May 15 to discuss tax anomalies and double taxation and other matters and prepare proposals for the forthcoming national budget.
He said that all heads of chambers of commerce and industries and business association have been invited to attend the meeting.
“This committee will discuss tariff rationalization matters and suggestions for submission before the budget committee,” he added.
He said that government was working on the proposal to wind up those departments including Labour Department which are bothering businessmen and industrialists.
Jatoi said that the government will allow power generation at export processing zone by the private sector.—APP
