Pakistan, Switzerland trade

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 8: Swiss Consul General, Julius F. Aderegg has said that Swiss importers are interested in buying leather products, textile items and surgical instruments.

There is a great scope for textile products provided local exporters place branded products with well planned export system, he said in a meeting with office-bearers of KCCI.

He expressed surprise over low trade volume between the two countries standing at $22.5 million only. Julius said his country was considering ways and means now to increase trade with Pakistan, says a press release.

Swiss investors are also interested in Gwadar Port and the Export Processing Zones, he said.

The diplomat attributed the thin trade between the two countries to the projection of bad image of foreign print and electronic media that had hindered foreign investment and bilateral trade from Switzerland. He noted that law and order situation in Pakistan has improved a lot besides development of infrastructure for trade and industry.
