ISLAMABAD, May 7: The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice to the attorney-general to appear before the court on Thursday to give views on a constitutional petition seeking disqualification of 65 Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal legislators, including its top leadership.
The petition filed by Dr Aslam Khaki advocate, was taken up urgently, within 48 hours of its filing, and the AG was summoned on one day’s notice.
The petitioner is seeking disqualification of MMA members on the ground that their “sanad” issued by Tanzeemul Madaris was not equivalent to the BA degree.
