KARACHI: Illegal house expansion work irks neighbours

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 7: A house is being built in the back alley, where pipelines, sewerage lines and gas lines pass through, in block 2 of the PECHS. The construction work has not only closed the lane completely, but has also blocked the view of neighbours.

The back alley, between lane Nos. 10 and 27, near Senior Model School, has completely been closed for passersby and in case the sewerage or any other pipelines would choke or develop some fault, maintenance workers would not be able to rectify the faults.

Despite closure of the back alley with the commencement of construction work, the officials of the concerned agencies including KBCA, PECHS, Jamshed Town and Ferozabad police have been playing the role of silent spectators ignoring complaints lodged by the affected residents of the locality.

The complaints argued that the owner of the house No 10-K was carrying out the construction work in the back alley in such a manner that their rights of privacy was being usurped.

“A nearby footpath has already vanished owing to encroachment whereas certain amenity plots in PECHS have illegally been occupied by those residing in an adjacent katchi abadi,” an old resident of the PECHS block 2 remarked.

Residents of the affected lanes have demanded a halt to the illegal construction.
