ISLAMABAD, May 5: Laila Zuberi and Farooq Qaisar of ‘Uncle Sargam’ fame has said the Artisans Society is launching a programme to train young and talented artists to promote art and culture in the country.
The two prominent artists were answering questions at an art interaction programme organized by the society in collaboration with the Department of Fine Arts at the Fatima Jinnah University on Monday.
While explaining and elaborating different facets of performing art, Laila Zuberi said it was necessary to properly guide and train talented and upcoming artists and help them reach the platform of TV, stage and radio with confidence.
She said the ‘Artisans Society’ was planning to hold a national seminar in Islamabad to review the problems being faced by artists all over the country and try to find solutions. She said leading artists from film, television, stage and radio would be invited to participate in the seminar.
Farooq Qaiser, while speaking in the ‘talk’ said the electronic media was under an onslaught by the stereotype artists, producers and directors and amidst this situation it was important to help the talented and imaginative people to come forward and break this stalemate.
He said to achieve this gigantic task the Artisans Society has devised a plan under which first such training programmes would be introduced at the reputed educational institutions.
He said training classes in different fields including painting, song writing, music and drama for talented students, which would be followed by workshops where the participants would be provided with opportunities to perform and prove their metal.
Dr Uzma, head of Department of Fine Arts in the university was the organiser of the ‘art interaction’ programme. Tabinda Sadiq and Miss Tania, the Admin Officer of the university also helped in the programme. In the end university souvenirs were presented to Laila Zuberi and Farooq Qaisar.
