RAWALPINDI, May 5: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board has prepared a plan to restructure the Cantt General Hospital and appoint specialist doctors in various sections, sources said.
A three-member audit committee has been constituted to carry out the audit and streamline other affairs of the hospital, they added.
The cantonment additional executive officer has been nominated as the chairman of the committee.
Besides forming the administrative structure, the committee will also prepare a report about the overall requirements and suggest measures to improve the hospital functioning.
It will also decide about the liabilities of the hospital, including the Rs11.186 million electricity and Rs31.64 million gas bills. Gas supply to the hospital remains suspended for the last several years due to non-payment of bills.
Similarly, Rs3 million has been earmarked for purchase of medicines on emergency basis. The committee will also decide about auctioning out different contracts, including the hospital canteen and parking fee contracts.
As many as nine specialists will also be appointed in different departments, including anaesthesia, radiology, sonography, children, pathology, skin, neurology, medical.
Some building maintenance work will also be carried out.
The cantonment board is also planning to arrange an MRI machine for the hospital through public-private partnership.
