KARACHI, May 5: Five ships carrying containers and ethanol for discharge and for loading molasses are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at wharves was slow owing to delayed arrivals. As a result, only two ships, X-Press Kailash to unload and load containers and Essberger Pilm to unload chemicals were berthed after the departure of three.

The ships, which departed included Med Keelung, Kota Tegap, and Mary Ann, while Ejord Champion, Izumo, Kota Wijaya, X-Press Kailash, and Glory are due to sail out on Tuesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was light owing to lesser handling of liquid tonnage. It fell to 49,480 tons comprising 1,551 tons of export cargo and 47,929 tons of import cargo.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Babur Kapitan, with ethanol, Banasol to load 52,000 tons of molasses, Gao He, APL Portugal, and Sinar Bangka, with containers.
