LAHORE, April 20: Young opener Khalid Latif played an excellent innings that laid the foundation of PCB Reds’ first victory in the trial match series at Gaddafi Stadium here on Sunday.

Khalid struck 78 off 116 deliveries as PCB Reds got the better of PCB Yellows by four wickets.

Left-handed Asim Kamal also excelled in making 55 off 59 balls with six fours while adding 93 for the third wicket with Khalid, who slammed seven boundaries.

Adil Nisar continued his fine form with his part-time slow left-armers by picking up four for 30.

Inzamam-ul-Haq, currently out of favour, played his first game in the series to hit a superb 89. The former Pakistan vice-captain was originally slated to lead PCB Whites but the national selectors inducted him in the PCB Yellows squad.

Inzamam showed his true class in striking 10 fours in his 100-ball innings that helped PCB Yellows reach 259 for seven in 50 overs. Troubled by a groin problem and an eye infection, Inzamam chose to retire to the pavilion.

Opener Adil Nisar also excelled with the bat and scored 44 off 65 balls with seven fours while Bilal Asad contributed 47 with five fours and Farhan Adil 35.

Fat bowler Mohammad Zahid disappointed again as he conceded 64 runs in eight overs without taking a wicket.
