KARACHI: Trauma life support programme

KARACHI, April 20: A committee of the American College of Surgeons has agreed to a proposal from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan for the launching of a programme on Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).

According to a press release of the CPSP, a memorandum of understanding will be initialled in this regard during a forthcoming visit to the country by some members of the ACS’s committee on trauma.

As per the draft MoU, the CPSP will designate a group of individuals to attend an introductory session in Pakistan on ATLS. “The ACS will be responsible for conducting the initial courses in Pakistan in accordance with the requirements established by the ACS committee on trauma,” said the handout.

“The ACS will train a cadre of local instructor candidates as well as one or more educators and course coordinators before and during the initial courses.

“The American College of Surgeons has agreed to provide CPSP with complete course material and student courses to conduct future ATLS courses,” added the press release.
