KHAIRPUR, March 27: Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Khan Marwat has expressed concern over the low standard of education in the province.

Talking to newsmen at the district Nazim office here on Wednesday, he said during his visit to a private school he was told that a woman teacher was paid Rs600 while on the record it was shown that teachers were paid Rs2,500 per month.

He said in such circumstances the standard of education could not be improved.

The minister said due to lack of proper planning, schools in remote areas were either closed or the strength of students in these schools was very low.

To a question about school buildings being used as Autaqs by landlords, he said there were a few cases of this nature but the matter was publicized out of proportion.

Referring to the dispute between the education department and district governments over transfers and postings, Mr Marwat said to avoid complications, a clear policy would soon be introduced. He said district governments and Sindh ministers should understand views of each other.
