KARACHI, March 27: Five ships carrying soyabean oil, fertilizer and containers are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

For the second consecutive day, berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side as port agencies maintained berthing schedules. Another six ships, Astor, Hyundai Highway, Global Prosperity and Al-Mariyah to unload and load containers, Lynx to offload and load general cargo and Eastern Victory to offload sulphur were berthed after the departure of seven.

The ships, which departed were led by Love Letter, APL Portugal, AP Pride, Astor, Bador, Sima Bahar and Hyundai Highway, while Sorena, Lynx, Oriental Tulip, Global Prosperity, Al-Mariyah and Mar Challenger are due to sail out on Friday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active where the total tonnage swelled to 0.123m tons owing to larger handling of liquid tonnage. Export tonnage rose to 46,984 tons including 4,339 tons of rice and 23,125 tons of molasses and naphtha and 75,771 tons of import tonnage, which also included 49,000 tons of oils.

The following ships are due on Friday: Maria-1-A, with 31,500 tons of DAP fertilizer, Kota Teguh, and Wehr Hael, with containers, Macler, with 78,000 tons of soyabean oil, and Asia to load 15,500 tons of molasses.

Port Qasim

KARACHI, March 27: Two vessels scheduled to load/offload containers and coal took berths at International Container Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Thursday.

Meanwhile, two more ships carrying furnace oil and edible oil also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Seven ships, City of Edinburgh, Msc Jordan, Cos Hero, Nur Yanbu, Jo Clipper, Action Express and Sam John Light were busy in loading/offloading containers, general cargo, chemicals, edible oil, diesel oil and coal.

A cargo volume of 37,302 tons comprising 22,104 tons of import cargo and 15,198 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Four ships, City of Edinburgh, Action Express, Nur Yanbu and Jo Clipper departed, while Msc Jordan was due to leave the port.

Three ships, Ess Berger Pilot, Francisca Schulte and Er Albany were expected to take berths at Marginal Wharf and Container Terminals.

Qem Star is due to arrive at the port on Friday.
