KARACHI: Reckless driving claims two lives

KARACHI, March 21: Two young men died in road accidents in the city on Friday.

A young man died in a road accident in Federal B Area.

The police said Sadiq Masih, aged 34, riding a bicycle, was knocked down by a speeding truck (KAQ-5477) at Aisha Manzil in FB Area. He died on the spot.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

The police claimed to have arrested the truck driver, Nazeer Ahmed, and impounded the truck.

The victim, a sweeper, was resident of Naimat Colony, Azizabad.

A young man died in a road accident near Steel Town.

The police said a motorcyclist, Khair Khan, aged 30, was knocked down by an unknown vehicle in Steel Town area. He was rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

DIES: A balloon seller died and his young son was injured when a gas cylinder exploded in Orangi Town on Friday.

The police said Syed Munir Husain, aged 50, was fixing a gas cylinder in his house in sector 10, Hanifabad, before going out to sell balloons when the gas cylinder exploded. He was seriously injured and his son Muzammil, aged 20, was injured.

Munir’s wife, Musarrat, fainted following the blast after inhaling the gas, the police said. Munir, his wife and their son were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Munir died. His son and wife were admitted to the hospital.
