KARACHI, March 18: The Sindh High Court asked a police official on Tuesday to submit his comments on a petition alleging “disappearance” of an illegally arrested person.
Ms Aasia Parveen, who hailed from Okara, submitted in his petition that she married Abdur Razzak of her own free will on March 7. On March 10 three plainclothes policemen barged into their residence and took Abdur Razzak into custody without stating any reason. The following day, DSP Yunus Butt of Okara visited her residence and told her that Abdur Razzak had escaped from police custody.
The petitioner requested the court to order her husband’s production as she feared that he might be killed by his kidnappers.
Another petition by a civilian employee of the Pakistan Navy against his alleged arrest and torture by officials of the naval intelligence was adjourned to March 20 at the petitioner’s request. He alleged that the intelligence officials’ action was a sequel to a family dispute.
