Raheel, Aqeel slapped fines

LAHORE, March 12: A fine of Rs 5,000 has been imposed in addition to a one-match suspension on Islamabad’s Raheel Majeed for using abusive language against the umpires during the Cornelius Trophy final between Islamabad and Quetta at Multan Stadium.

Match-referee Abdul Sami Khan took the decision after finding Raheel guilty for using abusive language. Quetta’s Aqeel Baloch was also reprimanded and will pay a fine of Rs 3,000 for breach of players code of conduct.

Besides the winners Islamabad who got Rs 40,000, Quetta as runners-up received Rs 20,000.

Karachi Greens’ Rashid Ali with aggregate of 465 runs was declared as best batsman of the tournament. Stephen John of Islamabad with a haul of 36 wickets was named best bowler.

Zafar Ali of Larkana who had 20 dismissals behind the stumps was declared the best wicket-keeper while Sheraz Soomro (Larkana) and Nasir Aziz (Karachi) were adjudged joint-best-fielders with 10 catches each.
