ISLAMABAD, March 12: A Supreme Court bench on Wednesday dismissed a review petition filed by Central Board of Revenue against the decision of Peshawar High Court to give exemption of Customs and Regulatory duties to industries set up in Gadoon Amazai.
The bench comprising Justice Munir A. Sheikh, Justice Iftikhar Ahmad Chaudhry and Justice Rana Bhagwandas ruled that the PHC had clearly decided that all the industries set up in Gadoon Amazai were entitled to exemption of Customs and Regulatory duties under policy decision of the government.
The bench also ruled that all the industries were entitled to exemption of Customs and Regulatory duties.
Raja Arshad, deputy attorney general representing CBR, argued that all the industries were not situated in Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate and secondly the exemption was only Customs duties given to them by the government.—APP
