KARACHI, March 11: The traffic police have announced the following traffic arrangements for Muharram-ul Haram 12, 13, and 14:

On 8th of Muharram (March 12) at 11:30am, a Shia Alam procession, organized by the Anjuman Saadat Amroha will be taken out from Nishtar Park to the Anjuman-i-Hussainian Iranian Kharadar. Its route will be as under:

Nishtar Park, Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, Mehfil-i-Khurasan, M A Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, again M A Jinnah Road, Thattai Compound, Adamjee Budha Bhoy Road, Baba-i-Urdu Road, Nishtar Road, Barah Imam, Altaf Hussain Road, (Old Napier Road), Denso Hall, M A Jinnah Road, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazar, Nawab Mahabat Khanji Road to Hussainian Iranian.

On 9th of Muharram (March 13), Alam procession will be taken out from Markazi Imambargah Liaquatabad. This procession will first go to Martin Road Imambargah and thereafter, it will come to Nishtar Park, where a Majlis will be held. At 12 noon, the procession will leave for Hussainian Iranian, Kharadar, via the following route:

Nishtar Park, Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, Mehfil-i-Khurasan, M A Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street again M A Jinnah Road, Boulton Road, Bombay Bazar, Nawab Mohabbat Khanji Road to Hussainian Iranian.

On 10th of Muharram (March 14), a majlis of Shias will be held at Nishtar Park from 7pm to 8.30pm and thereafter a procession will be taken out which will proceed via the following route:

Nishtar Park, Sir Shah, Nawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, Mehfil-i-Shah-i-Khurasan, M A Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, Preedy Street, again M A Jinnah Road, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazar, Kharadar, Nawab Mahabat Khanji Road to Hussainian Iranian.

Similarly, all buses, mini-buses, trucks and other heavy vehicles approaching from the National Highway side shall proceed via Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad-10, Nazimabad Chowrangi-2 Habib Bank, Manghopir Road chowrangi, State Avenue Road, Sher Shah to Mauripur Road.

For return journey, these vehicles shall proceed via the same route.

Similarly, all buses, mini-buses, trucks and other heavy vehicles approaching from the Guru Mandir signal shall be diverted to Bahadur Yar Jang Road and again on Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road and shall proceed via Nishtar Road from the junction of Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammed Khan Road and Bahadur Yar Jang Road. Under no circumstances, these vehicles shall be permitted to proceed along Soldier Bazar Road from the junction of Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammed Khan Road.

All lanes falling on Soldier Bazar Road behind the police station should be manned, and a check-post shall be established at the junction of Soldier Bazar Road and the road leading towards the Soldier Bazar PS and Pedro de Souza Road.

A check-post shall, however, be established at the roundabout in front of Hassan Square to prevent trucks, buses, mini-buses and other heavy vehicles from proceeding towards the jail side.

The section officers of the areas concerned will make necessary arrangements for diversion of trucks and buses in their respective traffic sections.

All cars coming from the Quaid’s Mazar side along M A Jinnah Road will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road. No vehicular traffic will be permitted to proceed towards Old Exhibition traffic signal under any circumstances.

All vehicular traffic coming from the Old Exhibition side via Shahrah-i-Quaideen (except those arriving for participating in the procession having stickers on their wind screens issued by the traffic police) shall not be permitted to proceed ahead from the roundabout of Shahrah-i-Quaideen and Link Road behind Mazar-i- Quaid-i-Azam.

No bus, mini-bus, trucks or any other heavy vehicle shall be permitted to proceed this point toward Old Exhibition traffic signal.

All traffic going towards Saddar and other colonies will not be permitted to proceed towards Empress Market from the junction of the Preedy Street and Sarmad Road, Preedy Street and M A Jinnah, Shahrah-i-Liaquat and Cantonment Road, Shahrah-i-Liaquat and Mohammed Bin Qasim Road.

Similarly, all vehicles proceeding towards Saddar via M A Jinnah Road shall not be permitted to proceed from its junction with Preedy Street and Aga Khan Road.—PPI
