LARKANA, March 8: The activists of Sunni Tehrik took out a procession here on Friday against the possible US attack on Iraq.

The procession emerged from the shrine of Qaim Shah Bukhari and converged outside the Jinnahbagh. The participants also held a demonstration outside the local press club.

Speaking on the occasion, ST leader Ali Nawaz Qasmi criticized the US for imposing a war on Iraq and termed it a war on Muslim countries.

He said that the US had fixed eyes on oil reserves of Iraq and other Muslim countries.

Mr Qasmi said that only unity of Muslim countries could frustrate designs of the US.

FARE HIKE: Hundreds of people, protesting over fare hike on Larkana-Dokri and Larkana-Badah routes, took out a procession in Dokri on Friday.

Responding to the call of traders and different political organizations, protesters gathered at the Akbar Mosque and marched towards the Channa Bridge by covering a distance of two kilometres.

Raising slogans against the increase in fare, the protesters staged a sit-in at the bridge and blocked traffic for two hours.

Speaking on the occasion, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chief Bashir Qureshi, Nazeer Soomro and others criticized the unilateral decision of transporters to increase fares on two routes.

They demanded of the Regional Transport Authority to bound down the transporters to follow its policy on fixing fares.
