KARACHI, March 7: The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) has urged the government to vote against the second US- and UK-sponsored resolution on Iraq in the UN Security Council.
Speaking to party workers at a reception, the secretary- general of the PTI, Mairaj Mohammad Khan, said that if Pakistan supported the resolution it would be isolated in the world.
Mr Khan said that Iraq had been cooperating with the UN arms inspectors and that it was the need of the hour to give more time to the inspectors for completion of their work.
He said Israel possessed stocks of sophisticated weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear ones, and had been the principal source of conflicts in the Middle East.
“Ironically despite stockpiling all kinds of weapons, Israel is considered above all international laws and the UN resolutions which it has violated so frequently,” he added.—PPI
