KARACHI, March 7: Two suicides were reported in the city on Friday.The police said a young man was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his house in Shahnawaz Colony at Khawaja Ajmair Nagri’s sector 1-A/4 late Thursday night.
When the dead man’s family, who were away from Karachi, returned on Thursday night they found Ghulam Mustafa, aged 22, dead. He committed suicide on Wednesday.
The police said the dead man hailed from Rahimyar Khan.
A man killed himself by jumping down from the Native’s Jetty bridge some time late Thursday night.
The police said the body of Rais, aged 50, was recovered from below the bridge.
A suicide note recovered from his clothes said he had an apartment in Asiya Building. The property should be given to his wife. But in case she decided to marry again, the property should be given to his two daughters.
The suicide note did mention the dead man’s postal address.
After post-mortem in a hospital, the body has been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification.
SHOT DEAD: Bandits shot dead a young man in North Karachi on Friday.
The police said bandits shot dead Umair Ali, aged 22, and injured his companion, Mamoon, aged 20, as they tried to put up resistance to three bandits when the latter attempted to rob them in Sector 5-D/1 of North Karachi.
When the bandits were fleeing from the scene on a motorcycle, they were signalled to stop by a policeman, ASI Mohammed Ashraf, at some distance from the spot. But the bandits opened fire at the policeman. The policeman returned the fire injuring one of the three bandits.
The injured bandit, identified as Jameel, was arrested. His accomplices escaped.
The injured bandit was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
ROAD ACCIDENT: A young man died in a road accident on Super Highway on Friday.
The police said a young man, Saleem Khan, was run over by an unidentified vehicle on Super Highway near Toll Plaza.
The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.
