FAISALABAD, March 5: In their security plan for Muharram, the local police have identified 74 “troubled spots” in the district and declared 40 of those as “most sensitive”.

Special security arrangements would be made in these places. Members of union, tehsil and district councils have also been asked by the administration to assist the police in their respective areas.

Meanwhile, local police and administration have banned the entry of 38 ulema into the district during first 10 days of Muharram. The ulema include the head of banned Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan, MNA Maulana Azam Tariq, Maulana Manzoor Ahmed Chinioti, Maulana Ebtasam Elahi Zaheer, Qari Mohammad Haneef and Allama Tahirul Hassan.

The police have also barred 10 religious leaders of the city from delivering speeches during Muharram.

ACCIDENT: Two persons were killed and three injured in an accident on Jaranwala-Makuana Road about 20km from here on Wednesday.

The driver of a wagon (LHO-4776) lost control while trying to save a motorcyclist. The vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree at roadside. Mohammad Mansha and Idrees Ali died on the spot while Nadeem, Sharif and Fazal sustained multiple injuries.

SUICIDE: A jobless youth committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in Nawaz Park here.

The area police said Mohammad Ali had been jobless for the last many years due to which the family members were finding it difficult to make both ends meet. The police handed over the body to his relatives after a post mortem at the local Allied Hospital.

AXED TO DEATH: A man allegedly axed to death his mother over a domestic dispute in Liaqatabad.

Police said Rasheedan Bibi (55) was living with her son Irshad Ahmed. On Wednesday, she complained to her son that his wife had illicit relations with a youth of the area. Irshad allegedly attacked his mother with a sharp weapon, killing her on the spot.

The police booked Irshad and started investigation.

SET ABLAZE: A man set ablaze his wife in Chak 121-JB.

Sources said Habib Ahmed was in dispute with his wife Rukhsana Parveen over his wish to marry again.

The locals gathered at the house of Habib on hearing the screams of Ms Parveen. She was taken to Allied Hospital in critical condition.
