KARACHI: KBCA demolishes illegal structures

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 2: The KBCA, in its current campaign against illegal constructions, demolished a number of residential and commercial buildings in different parts of the city.

According to a spokesman for the KBCA, different demolition teams during the last three days demolished an under-construction marriage lawn which was being raised on a residential plot 168-F, block 3, PECHS; hammered down illegally constructed first floor of a building constructed on plot A-23, block 8, Federal B’ Area; pulled down the shutters of first floor and sealed second floor of a building raised on plot No C-37, block 1, Clifton; demolished illegally constructed second floor on plot B-62, block N, North Nazimabad

A demolition team pulled down pillars which were raised on plot SD-2, block A, North Nazimabad as the builder had not obtained the building’s approved plan.

About another building raised up to 5th floor on plot 39, Ramswami-3, a KBCA spokesman said that since the builder was allowed to construct the building up to ground-plus-two, the demolition squad removed the building’s 5th floor columns, damaged roofs of its 4th floor, besides partially damaging the building’s second and third floors.

In other operation, the KBCA officials sealed two flats of a KBCA building situated in North Karachi’s Shadman Town, as the occupants were not KBCA employees. An inquiry in to the matter has been initiated.

The KBCA’s chief controller of buildings, Brig A S Nasir, has directed all the demolition teams to daily submit detailed reports to him.
