Pakistan lose to India

CENTURION (South Africa), March 1: India continued their domination over Pakistan in the World Cup with a convincing six-wicket victory in the much-awaited Group ‘A’ clash at Super Sports Park on Saturday.

India’s success against their arch-rivals in the tournament history was built around little maestro Sachin Tendulkar’s brilliant 98 off 75 balls. Rahul Dravid (44) and Yuvraj Singh (50) then put on 99 for an unbroken fifth-wicket partnership as India crossed Pakistan’s score of 273 for 7 in 45.4 overs.

Pakistan owed their highest total in the competition to Saeed Anwar’s 126-ball 101. It was left-hander’s 20th One-day International century.

Remarkably, Pakistan may still qualify for the Super Six round, if Australia beat England on Sunday, and Pakistan defeat Zimbabwe by a huge margin.
