PESHAWAR, March 1: An anti-terrorism court here on Friday convicted four persons, including two women, for firing at a police party and sentenced them to five years in jail with a fine of Rs2000 each.
The convicts — Fareed, Imtiaz, Hussain Bibi and Bilqees Bibi - were accused of abducting a boy named Shakeel and firing at a police party and injuring a policemen.
Two cases were registered against the accused: first under section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code for abducting the boy; and, the second under section 324, 337 and 353 of PPC read with section 13 of the Arms Ordinance on charges of firing at the police.
The ATC tried the accused in one of the cases pertaining to firing at the police, whereas, the trial in the abduction case has been pending before the court.
The presiding officer of the ATC, Akhter Zareef Khan observed that witnesses had proved that the four accused had fired at the police.
